To celebrate our Chinese heritage, we reflect on the importance of Chinese New Year and what that means to us as a family.
Also known as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is about new beginnings, fresh start and a time for friends and family to come together and celebrate. Growing up we didn’t really appreciate what Chinese New Year represents, but like most things when you get older you begin to see why it’s so important to us, and to the families who celebrate it.

For us Chinese New Year is about two main things: family and food. Chinese families connect the most around the dinner table and family dinners are a huge part of our culture – food is our main language of communication.
When our parents came from China to England, food was their gateway into interacting with the western world.
