Fashion Revolution 2017
It’s #fashionrevolution week and for those who aren’t familiar, this revolution was started by Fashion Revolution in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster. Four years ago over 1000 garment workers were killed due to the fashion chain producing some of the clothes you see on the high street; something that sent shockwaves throughout the world.
Our philosophy is #Knowthestory #Understandtheprocess and there are many reasons behind this thinking. It stands for a lot.
Simply put, prior knowledge will change everything.
It will make you question why and how things are what they are.
When we first started WW, we were unaware of the hidden stories behind products and the dirty side to the fashion industry. We kind of knew it was there with the term sweatshop being thrown around, but never actually knew what it actually entailed. But since the inception of WW and being in the industry we’re in, we knew this wasn’t right and we wanted to shed light on the good (as well as the bad) in the industry. We say prior knowledge changes everything – this can be knowledge that is positive, as well negative.
It’s 2017, we live in a world where information is at the tip of our fingertips. We’re a small brand, but with big ambitions with ways of showing you the stories and processes behind why and how things are what they are. You need to ask the question why does this item cost that much? Prior knowledge changes everything. Let’s #Knowthestory #Understandtheprocess . 💛 ❤️ #ethicalfashion
And it’s the likes of Fashion Revolution and the amazing work they do that helps shine light on the real issues of the industry we use every day. Brands like FR remind us about the importance of unity and the importance of being a voice in something we believe in. We’re lucky to have FR at the forefront of pointing us in the direction of transparency, honesty and integrity in fashion. Here’s to the revolution of fashion.
